Museum at the Chapel, Wheathill Lane, Milborne Port
After the group was formed we began to realise that there was a wealth of material in the village that needed a home! The Parish Council very kindly agreed to let us use the Chapel at a nominal rent for which we are very grateful.
We then set about painting, cleaning, fitting it out with display cabinets and storage facilities.
Old documents have to be stored correctly in order to protect and preserve them which due to the good offices of Lesley Wray we think that we have achieved.
The Museum at the Chapel was officially opened in April 2017 and since then we have been lucky enough to receive many donations and loans of items relating to the history of the village.
One of the latest additions to the Museum is the ‘Richard Duckworth Collection’. As we are sure that you all know, Richard has been compiling an astonishing record of the village and he has entrusted it to our safe keeping. Not all of it is in the Museum as yet as we are considering the best way of displaying this wonderful record.
Sadly we have not been able to open during the summer of 2020 due to Covid-19 but we are happy to open it for individuals and/or family groups whenever it suits you.
There is a new display on view along with many other interesting articles and artefacts.
If you wish to take advantage of this please contact Lesley Wray on firstname.lastname@example.org or Lyn Harrison, email@example.com or 01963 251549
